Hanover Township is located in Morris County, New Jersey. The township comprises the communities of Whippany and Cedar Knolls.
Hanover Township offers many public attractions including the Whippany Railway Museum, the Frelinghuysen Arboretum and the Morris County Library. Patriots' Path, a wilderness walkway and bike trail that stretches for 26 miles also passes through the township along the Whippany River.
The draw here is the low taxes and proximity to all the major highways as well as shopping, entertainment and family activities galore.
Hanover Township School District:
For kindergarten through eighth grade, public school students attend the Hanover Township Public Schools which range from Bee Meadow School , Salem Drive School and Mountview Road School for grades K-5 and Memorial Junior School for grades 6-8.
Students in public school for ninth through twelfth grades attend Whippany Park High School in the Whippany section of Hanover Township, as part of the Hanover Park Regional High School District.
There are also three private special education schools - The Allegro School, The Calais School and P.G. Chambers School.
THE COMMUTE
Many residents take New Jersey Transit’s Midtown Direct from Morristown, Morris Plains, or Convent Station.
Others drive to the Port Authority Trans-Hudson train station in Harrison, off Interstate 280, about 20 minutes east of Hanover Township. The train ride to Lower Manhattan from Harrison takes 20 minutes. There are also several bus options in the area.
