Jefferson Township is divided as Oak Ridge/Milton and Lake Hopatcong. Both have unique communities such as Berkshire Valley, Cozy Lake, Lake Shawnee, etc. It is the most northern town in Morris County. The Lake Hopatcong area offers a range of activities and attractions for residents and visitors alike. Some popular options include boating, fishing, swimming, and lakeside picnics. Jefferson Township is served by the Jefferson Township School District, which provides education to students from K-12th.
The district consists of three schools:
Milton Elementary School: K-2nd
White Rock Elementary School: 3rd-5th
Jefferson Township High School: 6th -12th

The NJ Transit provides train service from the nearby Lake Hopatcong Station to Penn Station. The commute takes approximately one hour, making it a popular option for daily commuters.
Several bus routes operated by NJ Transit connect Jefferson Township to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The travel time varies depending on traffic conditions but
usually takes around 90 minutes.

By car it can take an hour or more also depending on traffic conditions.
