About Morris Township

Morris Township located in Morris County is a beautiful community with many different neighborhoods and is considered one of the more affluent areas in the county. The township itself borders busy and bustling Morristown and is made up of mountains, rolling hills, parks and hiking trails.  Although Morris Township doesn't have its own downtown area, the close proximity to other towns also offers easy access to any and all shopping needs, museums, entertainment venues, tons of restaurant options. And so much more.

One popular section of Morris Township is Convent Station where you’ll find the Morris Township Municipal Building and Morris Township Police headquarters. In addition,  Convent has its own train station making it ideal for commuters.

There are two  swimming and tennis facilities in the township which are Streeter Pool and Tennis in the western section of   and the Ginty Field complex in the eastern section. There is no shortage of things to do here either.

Just to name a few: Mennen Sports Arena with three ice skating rinks, Frelinghuysen Arboretum, Fosterfields Historical Farm, Loantaka Brook Reservation, Patriots Path, Traction Line Recreation Trail, Seaton Hackney stables and the Morris Museum.

Morris Township  Schools:

The Morris School District serves public school students in Morris Township, Morristown and Morris Plains. There are    a few different public schools for kindergarten to grade two, which are the Lafayette Learning Center, Hillcrest School, Alfred Vail School and the Woodland School.

There are also several options for middle school, grades 3-5,  which are Alexander Hamilton School, Thomas Jefferson School, Sussex Avenue School, Normandy Park School, and the Frelinghuysen Middle School.  Depending on the area of town- will determine which school is best for you. Everyone comes together at Morristown High School which serves students in serves grades 9-12.

The Academy of St. Elizabeth is a private high school for girls located in Convent Station. Fun fact: It is the oldest all girls' high school in New Jersey. The College of Saint Elizabeth is a private, four-year, liberal arts college for women, also located in Convent Station.

Thinking About Your Commute?

Commuting from here couldn’t be easier. As I mentioned, Convent Station has a New Jersey Transit rail station on the Morristown Line, which is located adjacent to the College of Saint Elizabeth. It provides Midtown Direct service to Penn Station in NYC. Other nearby train stations are in Morris Plains and Morristown too. Although convent has the most parking options in my opinion.  You can also hop on a bus to NYC in many locations. Since you’re about 35 miles from eth city- your drive will take you about 45 minutes to an hour depending on the traffic.

Being in Morris Township will also bring you close to many major highways such as Routes 24, 124, 202 and Interstate 287. Nearby is also easy access to Interstates 78 and Rte. 80 as well as Routes 10 and 46.
