Your Dream Home NJ Has 6 Tips To Beautify Any Room In Your Home

Updated: Jan 25, 2020

Need to update some rooms in your home without spending a fortune or hiring an interior decorator? Check out my 6 tried and true tips to help you get started.

I may be a real estate agent but I also LOVE decorating. I built my own home 12 years ago and I still absolutely love walking through the door every day. There’s no place like home, so why not make your home the most beautiful and cozy place ever? There’s tons of tips online and sometimes it’s hard to decipher what you should and shouldn't do. Whether you’re planning on selling your home and need to get it “show ready”or just need to add some life into your home to make it feel like a million bucks (obviously without spending that) Here’s some of my tried and true tips and techniques that can help you showcase the best features of every room in your house. With just a touch of personality, love, color and texture you can transform your home into something new, literally overnight! Here’s a few tips that don’t cost a fortune and are fairly easy to do on your own, without hiring a pro!

Mirrors make everything look more dramatic!

USE SOME MIRRORS

I probably have more mirrors than most in my home, but I absolutely love the way a mirror brings life to any room. Bringing in some mirrors can add light and make a small space feel bigger too. Plus, they are so much fun to decorate with. Hang a few together or add one huge one over your couch, but any way you slice it, mirrors rock my world when it comes to decorating.

A simple touch of color can go a long way!

ADD SOME COLOR

You can never go wrong sticking with a neutral scheme , in fact different shades of grey are very popular right now. But if you’re feeling like your room is a little drab, don’t be afraid to go with a bold color. You can do an accent wall that compliments the current color scheme or use a piece of furniture or accent pieces like throw pillows to add a touch of color. Color doesn’t have to mean hot pink- you can keep the rest of the room simple and add a dramatic touch of color with a few simple elements.

I love all of the different textures of these pillows.

ADD TEXTURE

Use throws or pillows with different patterns and textures. Throw a faux fur throw over the corner of your couch. Metals and some metallics can add some funky touches too but please don’t overdo it! Velvet benches, linen pillows, and maybe a leopard touch or two can all create a little drama. The idea is to mix and match the right textures so your home is show-stopping and gorgeous rather than drab and blah.

The right accessories can make or break the look of any room. Be creative!

PLAY WITH ACCESSORIES

I’m a huge antique lover. Not the expensive kind either. I love finding unique ways to use the little treasures I find as accessories. There is so much you can do with a room by simply getting creative with accessories. Get some unique decorative pieces that speak to you. Something you’ll love to look at. Let your room tell a story through these pieces. Check out your closest antique store and grab some pieces that show your own personality. You can also head into Home Goods and Home Sense, TJ Maxx, or Marshalls also. Sometimes you can find beautiful and unique decorative pieces that are incredibly affordable.

This picture made me break out in hives. Don't do this....EVER!

REMOVE CLUTTER

I say this all the time! Clutter sucks! Nothing makes a room look amazing more than getting rid of ANY clutter! If you have a hard time finding where you put something, chances are it’s time to de-clutter. Sell some goodies on-line and make some $ to go buy a great accent pillow or piece of furniture you've been eyeing instead!

Natural light helps any room look "alive."

EMBRACE THE LIGHT

Let the light shine in! There’s no need to hang heavy curtains on every window in your home. Decorate your room in a way that compliments the windows and brings in natural light. A dark house never looks good, no matter how you decorate!

There you have it! My favorite ways to re-design and re-energize the rooms in your home. If you need more of my tips or tricks reach out anytime kbrechka@gmail.com.
