Roxbury is located in Morris County approx. 36 miles from NYC. Roxbury Township offers a variety of recreational activities and attractions for residents and visitors. Some communities in the Township are Landing, Succasunna, Kenvil, etc. The Township is home to several parks and nature preserves, such as Horseshoe Lake Park, Emmans Greenway, and Black River County Park.

These areas provide opportunities for hiking, picnicking, fishing, and enjoying nature. The township also has historical sites that showcase its rich heritage. The Roxbury Historic Trust maintains the historic Silas Riggs Saltbox House, which offers a glimpse into the areas past. Located nearby, Lake Hopatcong is the largest freshwater lake in New Jersey.

It offers various recreational activities, including boating, fishing, and lakeside dining. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a round of golf at one of the townships golf courses, such as Flanders Valley Golf Course or Berkshire Valley Golf Course. Shopping and Dining in Roxbury Township has a range of shopping centers and dining options. Located nearby is the Rockaway Townsquare Mall which also offer
a variety of stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues.

 

Roxbury Public Schools

The primary school district serving Roxbury is the Roxbury Township Public Schools. This district is comprised of six schools:
Nixon Elementary School : serves students from Pre-K- second grade focusing on early childhood education.
Jefferson Elementary School: enrolls students from K- second.
Franklin  Elementary School: caters to students in grades third and fourth.
Lincoln/Roosevelt School: Serves students in grades fifth and sixth.
Eisenhower Middle School: It serves students in grades sixth through eighth. 
Roxbury High School : accommodates students from ninth - twelfth grade and offers a comprehensive high school education, providing a wide range of academic and
extracurricular opportunities.​

A Commuters Delight!

Roxbury Township offers convenient transportation options for residents commuting to New York City. The most common methods of commuting from the nearby Mount Arlington train station. From there, residents can take a New Jersey Transit train on the Montclair-Boonton Line to reach Penn Station. The approximate travel time is around 1 hour and 15 minutes.

There are also several bus services available for commuting from Roxbury Township to NYC.

 

Many residents choose to commute to NYC by car. The

township has convenient access to major highways which connect to the George Washington Bridge and other crossings into NYC. The travel time by car can vary
depending on traffic conditions but is typically around 1 hour and 15 minutes.
